As we prepared to send this email out, our community braced for what turned out to be a very powerful storm which inundated many homes and businesses along the Gulf Coast of Florida. Our hearts go out to friends, family, clients, and businesses that all have a long road to recovery in the aftermath.

As with all natural disasters, it is an opportunity for neighbors to band together and help one another - this is a strong community supported by incredibly hard working emergency services. I don't know a single person who isn't helping or being helped by others in the community right now.

For the past year, I have been coaching athletes with Down Syndrome through our local Buddy Up Fitness program at the Sarasota. We help young adults improve their strength, balance, and fitness through fun and challenging workouts. We are raising funds to support our program by sponsoring a team at the annual Buddy Walk, which serves as the local Down Syndrome community's primary fundraiser and awareness event.
