The land continued to change both owner s and uses and in 1920 the area the field road is on really was a field, offering pasture to a dairy farm, and leased for a quart of milk per day from the owners. In 1925 the first familiar item appeared when wealthy merchants built a large Spanish villa on along the water at Oyster bay who used the elaborate new home as snowbirds avoiding until the property's sale in 1957 to Sarasota entrepreneurs who had big ideas for the home.

The new owners, a group of investors from the Sarasota Yacht Club, added tennis courts, enlarged the docks, built a swimming pool, and remodeled the home into a private club called the Field Club. Still going today, the field club is of the oldest private businesses still in Sarasota. Oyster Bay the neighborhood was created in the early 1950s when another developer purchased the land and many new homes were built Sarasota grew as America recovered from WWII and Oyster Bay along with it.

Today there are more than 168 homes nestled into an established landscape of old oaks and tropical palms. The variety of homes is a large part of the neighborhood feel, but surprisingly this quiet family friendly community is situated just behind busy route 41 and all the shopping, dining and commerce of central Sarasota.
